Getting into Mexico with a record.
Anonymous8 views4 answers
I'm planning on going to Mexico in 2016 for a wedding. I'm nervous that I wont be allowed in because of my history. Back in 07 I was charged with misdomeaner. Didn't do any jail time no probation just had to pay a fine. Then in 2014 I got a DUI once again to jail time just 6 months if probation. I'm nervous I wont be let into Mexico. Is there anyway I can find out ahead of time if I'll be allowed in?

All you need to is contact a competent and cooperating someone at the Mexican consulate in NYC or D.C. and inquire whether your prior misdemeanor convictions and other run-ins with the law could now impede you from being admitted into the Mexican Republic. I would also peruse the consulate's or even the embassy's website before you call.
If not very successful or cannot get a straight answer I would also seek to contact a Mexican immigration lawyer, by searching one on the internet, in the capital "Mexico D.F." or the city the wedding will be held at.
Unfortunately, we can't help you ... this is a US law forum.
You can search www.ailalawyer.com to see if you can find someone with an attorney license in Mexico.
Your question has to due with Mexican, and not US, immigration law. You should also consult with a US immigration attorney if you are planning to come back to the States after the wedding.
