i have an order of protection against me, and it expires 2017. I want to know can the mother of my kids renew the order of protection without any reason at all?
The law was amended in 2010 to allow for renewal of an order of protection "for good cause." What constitutes "good cause" is in the discretion of the Judge, but certainly it can't be for "no reason" whatsoever. Schedule a consult with a Bronx Family Law attorney for a full assessment.
She would have to file a petition to extend the order of protection, and establish the reasons for requesting the extension beyond 2017. In the meantime, depending on what the order of protection says, you should be super careful not to violate that order to prevent her from filing a violation petition against you. She could use the violation later on as a basis to extend the order of protection.

The short answer is no. You cannot extend an order without any reason as the law requires there be "good cause" to extend it. What constitute good cause is up to the judge hearing the request.
