How do I proceed to complete QDRO's?

Divorce 2 views 3 answers
Final divorce decree was filed in June of 2014. To this point, neither attorney has initiated QDRO's, possibly because I stated to my attorney that my finances were limited. The fees are to be split. The QDRO firm my lawyer usually uses cannot perform the QDRO because of conflict of interest. There are 5 retirement plans to consider (401, 403, pensions). How should I proceed? Who else can do the QDRO? How do I find a reputable firm or QDRO lawyer?

Most divorce lawyers can do it but the cost can be high. I generally use QDRO Consultants located in Medina, Ohio. The cost is reasonable and it does an excellent job. The website is https://www.qdros.com/ I'm not sure if QDRO Consultants does it for you without an attorney, but either your attorney or the other attorney can make all necessary arrangements to get it done. Best to you, Lee

Most Family Law attorneys are able to prepare QDRO's, DOPO's, or other orders acceptable for processing. You could call your county bar association and request a referral to an experienced Family Law attorney. Why don't you use your attorney from the divorce?
