Someone filed a false police report against me. I don't know this person. Can I file some kind of charges against them for falsifying information about me and slandering me?
Thank you

There usually are SLAPP laws that protect persons against being sued for complaints made to police. Also if no charges are brought, there is no damage. You should wait and see if anything becomes of the complaint.

Yes, but first retain a local criminal lawyer to fight the charges if any. That lawyer can investigate a claim against the person as well. has a great lawyer finder tool to locate an attorney close to your home. Good luck.
Proving damages is going to be an issue. Yes you can higher a lawyer, but you might have to pay up front instead of a contingency. You aren't going to win much if the actual damages to you are minimal. (ie loss of business, or some significant character damage that had outright manifestations in your personal or business affairs in the community)
