Do i need a lawyer to resolve a dispute with my landlord?

I moved in to a rental property over the christmas holidays and was told upon attempting to transfer water service with dekalb water shed that my landlord had not turned in an management agreement. The landlord informed me they would charge me 32 dollars a day till they(landlord) resolved the issue. I believe that is unreasonable and wonder what my options are. Thank You

No. You do not necessarily need a lawyer to resolve a dispute with your landlord. A lawyer may, however, be able to help you understand what your rights are under the law and the lease contract and might be able to exert pressure on the landlord and obtain a better result for you. $32 per day for water service does sound unreasonable, unless you use a LOT of water. If you are unable to resolve your dispute and it winds up in court, you are much more likely to obtain a better result with an attorney on your side. Your options in this matter will depend in large part upon what the lease contract says.
