Family Law Dissomaster Calculation - where to input certain values

Divorce 5 views 2 answers
I received my spouse's paystubs. I am inputting the values into Dissomaster. I see what's listed as "Before Tax Deductions" for (1) Dental Insurance (2) Flex Spending: Dependent Care (3) FSA Health Care (5) Health Savings Account (6) Health Only and (7) Vision Insurance. Where do these values go? Can I put them all under the category Health Insurance PreTax wage Deduct? I also see "after tax deductions" for life insurance. Any input as to where these items go is greatly appreciated.

It all goes under "health insurance." The flex spending payment and health savings account & life insurance payments are NOT included in child & spousal support calculations.

I agree with Attorney Mendez that generally these amounts all go under "health insurance deductions". I would recommend you run the calculations with those amounts not included in the income available for support. Then run them in the "regular income" or "pre-tax income" sections and see if there is a significant difference in the support calculations. Sometimes the difference is nominal and sometimes it is substantial. Either way, you can always ask the court to consider these monies as income for support since it is money earned and does not appear to be mandatory deductions. You may or may not be successful in the argument, but it doesn't hurt to ask, especially if the deductions are so significant that it makes spousal/child support payments non-existent or insufficient for the needs of the supported spouse and/or child(ren).
