Can I change my F-2 to J-1 and get H1-B in October.

Basically, I'm on F-2 visa right now and I am a software engineer.
I found a company who will sponsor me in April for H1B but, even though I get the visa (lottery and all), I still can't work for them until October, which is a long waiting period.
So they asked me if I want to switch my visa to J-1 until I get (if ever) H1 in October.
I'm just not sure if that's a good intermediate step considering I already had B1, F1 and F2 visas in the past. Not sure if having different visas would help me on my H1 petition.

You maybe able to convert to J1 or even H1B. Depending on the specific circumstances it may not be required to wait until Oct 1.
