on this day I decided to watch my baby son and my girlfriend's daughter. we all leave together. in the middle of trying to claim my baby I notice the little girl is hiding something from me. I confronted her, opened her mouth and noticed she has been snacking on some fiber bears she was stealing from the medicine cabinet. she had 19 of them, instead of 2 per day. the fact that she went to the medicine cabinet scared me the most. so I decided to make it the first time I was going to spank her. while trying to grab her for the spank she fail and hit her face on a chest. the doctor in the ER claims the mark is consistent with slap and I slept in jail that night. my question is, I have a clean record and I will like it to stay that way but I can not afford legal help. what options do I hv

Yes, you should absolutely seek the assistance of an attorney. Try contacting attorneys to see if they can find an amenable payment plan; also contact the Douglas County Public Defender's Office.
You need an attorney. The state will have an attorney and this attorney's job is to convict you of the charges and makes sure that you are punished in a manner that the government finds appropriate. You must consider all consequences to the charges and if there are any potential defenses. You need an attorney. In criminal law if you cannot afford an attorney you may qualify for the services of a public defender. You may want to interview a few attorneys to see how much they charge and if they would be a good fit for you. Some attorneys may take payment arrangements.
Good Luck!

Yes. You should be contacting an experienced criminal defense lawyer, there, now.
If you broke your arm, would you want a good doctor? Would you want the local boy scout who had some first aid training? Who do you want to set your arm? Would you perhaps want to do it yourself, maybe after checking some references online?
This is not a do-it-yourself situation. You need to be talking with a criminal defense lawyer there, now. If you can’t afford to hire one, you should get one appointed. In the meantime, you should not be discussing what happened with anyone, especially the police!

I am an experienced Wisconsin criminal defense lawyer practicing in Madison (Dane County) Wisconsin. The laws in each jurisdiction can be very different. I cannot give legal advice over the Internet nor can I establish an attorney client relationship with you.
If something I say disagrees with what your own lawyer is telling you, you should rely on your lawyer who is familiar with you, your entire case, the local courts and practices.
Most questions are just better handled by an attorney familiar with the procedures of the courts in your area. Few, if any, legal matters should be handled via Internet communication. If you cannot afford an attorney, there should be agencies in your area that can provide discounted, or even free, legal services.
