My discussion might help them decide next steps on whether or not to develop the product and/or its importance. 2. Can I be on their Board of Advisors/Directors and get a stake? 3. How about if I co-found a company with a US citizen and that company gets a stake in this startup?

Generally, you can be only a passive member of any organization that is for profit. If your involvement can qualify as employment, the answer is NO.

You may only be a passive investor in the company. You can engage in no activity that can be considered work regardless of whether you are paid.

1. YEs, if that is a type of activity always done by the volunteers in the company's history. Otherwise, no. 2. How about you understand that any activity which even remotely resembles employment may turn to be an obstacle and stain on your immigration history you might not be able to overcome.
