register with a note. It says do not accept this ck by this person. We have a paid in full receipt and they made no efforts to clear this up before posting this sign and check. Is there any thing I can do? What are my options? Thank you

No, there is nothing you can do. They have a right to decide whose checks they will accept, as long as they do not base that decision on membership in a protected class (race, color, national origin, gender, disability, etc.). Bouncing a check and costing them time, aggravation, and banking fees is a perfectly proper reason, even if you did eventually make good on the check and fees. Doing that will protect you from being prosecuted for uttering a worthless check; it will not protect you from a vendor refusing to accept further checks.

I agree with attorney Richard. Although I will add that depending on what the sign states, where it is posted, etc,, it may violate certain privacy laws and/or potentially be defamatory against your wife and perhaps yourself if the bad check writing was not done intentionally. You should speak to a lawyer in your area about this. This may be a way to at least get the sign/check out of the public viewing area.
