The unit owner is responsible for assessments and the assessments constitute a lien on the unit if a statement of the lien is filed within 2 years after the due date. In a foreclosure, the lien is behind a first mortgage, taxes, contractor's liens and a few others in priority, so it is often not possible to enforce the lien against the unit.

It will depend on a few factors such as, did the association has filed a lien and if the former owner filed bankruptcy and other factors. Good Luck
