Do i have a case?
I began working at a Dental office in May of 2014, at first the Dentist, and other employees were openly nice talkative and I enjoyed the job. 10 weeks later I announce my pregnancy to them (after I hit my 20 week mark and was sure the pregnancy would be viable) As soon as I announced this they just stared at me and said "oh" later the dentist told me another worker had been having troubles with pregnancy and to not talk about being pregnant as it would be hard for her. Soon after it seemed the dentist was treating me disrespectfully and unfairly, in what to me were attempts to get me to quit her office. ( I'm assuming because she was upset about my pregnancy) She began making me wear long sleeves to work to cover a tattoo that was already covered by my required work uniform of a long sleeve lab jacket all in 95+ degree weather. So I was made to wear a long sleeve shirt, a scrub top, and a lab jacket. I felt she was doing this to make me miserable at work again in an attempt to make me want to quit. She waited 10 weeks after my start date, to bring to my attention I needed to wear long sleeves (after announcing my pregnancy) She also promised me at least 20 hours a week, after announcing my pregnancy my hours got cut more and more each week causing me financial troubles. I was told that hours were cut because there just wasn't enough to hand out between me and the other dental assistant employed there. After being told this, I came to work the next day to find yet another assistant had been hired behind my back. I was pulled in to the office and told I was inadequate at the job, and that the new assistant had more experience and was going to be taking over as the lead assistant and get the hours but that I could still work days that they needed me and it wasn't my fault because nobody had actually trained me. If there wasn't enough hours for me and the other employee, why hire a 3rd person for the position. It was like being fired without being fired. I have been a dental assistant for 2 years and feel I am very qualified, my previous office we saw 100+ patients a day, and I worked there for almost 2 years, at this new office we saw about maybe 20 patients a day which was much less so I know the job was one I could handle adequately. Every day it was something new I was doing wrong, and no matter what I did to correct these things, I was still told I was not "understanding the job" Deciding that the stress from the financial hardship, and basically being told I was no longer needed I chose to quit the office because of the stress it was putting on me while pregnant was no longer worth it. It left me in a very bad spot because nobody wants to hire a girl who is 8 months pregnant, so even in the beginning when my hours started to get cut I was unable to find other forms of employment. I chose to file for unemployment under poor working conditions ( discrimination, hostile work environment, stress on pregnancy, working 11 hours with no lunch break while pregnant etc..) Now the employer is fighting my unemployment claim. Do I have a case against her?
