Will I have a problem in receiving my OPT with an arrest record?

I am on a F1 visa right now. I had a felony charge but it was reduced to a misdemeanor. I was also charged of a disorderly person. I pleaded guilty and was on probation. It will be lifted off my records after the probation will be completed. I did not get arrested but I had arrest records. My picture was taken and so were my fingerprints. I went back to India for the holidays and when I returned a few days ago, the immigration officer almost denied letting me inside the country because I had arrest charges. What are my chances of getting an OPT with this record. I will be applying for an OPT within this month and I am still under probation. How will that impact in getting approved for my OPT? This is a fairly new record. I am still under probation. How will this impact my future visas

You really need to obtain copies of all of your criminal records and then bring them to an experienced immigration attorney, who can analyze the situation and give you an idea of the potential problems that you face. There is no way to determine, based on your posting, what your immigration consequences are. We would need to see your court documents. Best wishes.

It does not matter how old the criminal record is, but rather that you have one. Your arrest could impact your eligibility for future immigration benefits. However, there is not enough information to properly assess the full impact. You need to obtain a copy of your criminal records and consult an experienced immigration attorney.

The answer to your questions will be highly speculative. We simply don't know without seeing your entire criminal record. Please seek immigration advise in confidential consultation.
