Tenants in house next door party Saturday from 10pm-5am. Police never show, absentee landlord is unresponsive. What can we do?

I reside in Bronx, NY in a semi-attached 3 family multiple dwelling. The house next to mine, with an absentee landlord, contains tenants who every Saturday play loud music and have parties from 10pm until 5am. We have gone over and knocked on the door asking them to turn down music and have been met with aggression. We have called 311 and been informed that it is up to the landlord to speak with the tenants and the landlord tells us there is nothing he can do, keep calling police. Problem has been going on for the past year and police have never responded. Do we have any recourse?

Have you tried calling the police precinct directly while the party is ongoing?

Dear Bronx Tenant: The NYPD should respond in real time to a noise complaint made when the noise is going on as long as not dealing with an emergency: http://www1.nyc.gov/nyc-resources/faq/474/how-does-nypd-respond-to-noise-complaints If you find the local precinct unresponsive then get in touch with your member of the New York City Council and have your council member follow up for you.
