What type of attorney can help me bring on independent contractors to staff my business?

I run a pet sitting business and I need to bring on some independent contractors. I'm looking for someone who mainly works with issues pertaining to ICs. Is there such a thing as an IC attorney? And can you recommend one in the St Paul MN area? Thanks.

Attorneys here do not solicit clients. I urge you to seek an experienced attorney and she can help you. Perhaps you are aware that whether a worker is an independent contractor or employee involves a consideration of the full facts and can present tax issues. One commonly known sort of 'test' involves whether the business owner has or retains a 'right to control'.... All the best. Tricia Dwyer Esq.

Like the others have said, you need to talk to an employment attorney in your area. An employment attorney will be able to help you understand your role as the employer and the IC's role as well. Your attorney will also be able to help you draft agreements between you and the ICs. has a great Find-a-Lawyer tool. Best, Joe Larson
