You should speak to a Criminal Defense Attorney. In most cases, the consultation is free. The defense attorney can provide expert advice about your situation. If there is further inquiry, the defense attorney can serve as a buffer between yourself and the police. Under no circumstance should you contact the police without counsel.

What should you do? Speak privately and confidentially with an experienced criminal defense attorney. No one, (let me repeat that!) No one, should respond to police questions without first consulting with their attorney. Obviously, there is insufficient information to answer your other questions other than to say that the police can charge a defendant at any time until the statute of limitations runs. If the matter is important to you, there are no shortcuts. Call an attorney. Good luck.

First off, you did not indicate as to whether or not you attended that questioning with an attorney. If you did not, then that was your first mistake. Cops don't call you in to their office give you milk and cookies. They're NOT your friend and couldn't care less if your answers get you in trouble. NEVER---and let me stress this again---NEVER submit to police questioning without an attorney present. NEVER. 'Glee'fully, you haven't made the second mistake here, in this forum. That would be discussing the facts of whatever you were questioned. Good. Regardless, don't discuss the matter with anyone other than an attorney. Why? Because that person could be called upon to testify as to your admissions and/or comments. Depending upon what it was that the police questioned you about, the passage of time could work for or against you. I'd suggest you spend a couple of bucks and speak with an experienced criminal attorney. That person could assess the matter more specifically and advise you more accurately.
