Can I beat this red light camera ticket?

I drove my son's car to the mechanic. After getting off the freeway, smoke starting coming from the engine. I was on a very busy street and had trouble getting through traffic to get to the side of the street. I don't typically panic, but I had a heart attack a few weeks previously and I was scared that I was having another heart attack and that the car was on fire. I thought I made the yellow light then pulled over into a parking lot across the intersection. I took my meds and calmed down. It turns out that the car had been overheating and the smoke was burning coolant. I waited about 45 minutes and then drove the half mile or so to the mechanic and had the cracked radiator replaced. Two weeks later the ticket came in the mail.
The red light cameras are (literally) inhuman. The only way to fight this is to set it for trial and present your defense. There is a defense of "necessity" that will excuse a violation of the law if it was done to prevent greater harm. I am not saying whether this will or will not work for you, simply pointing out that there is an issue possibly there.
It is a moving violation, so if you're eligible for traffic school and want to attend (and pay the full fine), it avoids the point on your driving history. If you go to trial and lose, even if you are eligible for traffic school it is discretionary on the trial judges part if they want to refer you.
You can also get a traffic ticket attorney to handle this matter for you.
Yes, it is possible to beat this ticket. It may be worth you while to consult a traffic attorney to discuss your options. . .many will offer a free consultation. Best of luck.
