Wrongful Termination of Employment 3 views 3 answers
A leave of absent do to a broken back in Sept. 2012 ???? when I was able to return to active duty was denied because I did not make the needed dept. points to maintain my membership. I believe I only needed 12 points for 2012. The discrimintion comes to play because other members in the past were given the opportunity to make up the points the following year.

The rules do not allow the lawyers to solicit you so I suggest that you try using the Find A Lawyer tab on and make some calls.

Generally speaking, employment law claims have low value unless there is significant income loss by the suing worker (e.g. if he has lost significant income due to being fired, due to unpaid wages owed, etc.). If this volunteer position had low hours and/or wages, it likely would have low value as a potential legal claim, even if the proof of a legal violation was strong. Your best bet is to limber up your fingers and prepare to make many calls to employee rights attorneys to find someone who will give a free consultation AND who would agree to represent you on a contingency basis for any legal action that followed. This does not appear to be a promising situation from initial facts, so be prepared for at least some rejection. With that said, I have not evaluated the details of your matter, and the only way to get an informed opinion and legal advice is to track down an attorney who will provide you a free evaluation and options, if any, for affordable legal representation.
