I recanted in my DV case, can I be charged?

Domestic Violence 5 views 3 answers
I filed a domestic violence against my boyfriend and I told the prosecuter that's I wanted to drop charges and he said he can't so I stated that I wanted to recant my statement because it was not true. The prosecuter threatened to press charges on me for this, should I get a lawyer?

Yes, you should. Falsificstion is a crime. The prosecutor may or may not actually charge you, but there are strategies for approaching this sort of situation which should be discussed with an attorney in private.

You should consult with an attorney for sure. You could, in fact, be charged for a false statement.
