Do I have a case or am I stuck dealing with him for the rest of my life?

I was wondering how to go about reporting and suing this guy who is a registered sex offender for extorting/blackmailing me. He informed my landlord of something personal that almost had me evicted, informed my family of my personal information, threatened to report me to child services and so on. He stated I either had to pay him 2000 or to come to give him "services" whenever ever he wanted or he would do such things. After I refused to give into his demands he had done what he had threatened and later promised he could make it all stop if we "worked things out" and became friends. Just to have him stop I eventually gave into him and I am now pretending to be his friend. I left out some details but those are the personal details that he was holding against me.

If he is making you either pay him money or give him sex in order to not tell on you he is committing at least one or possibly several crimes and you need to report him to the police. Please be careful. If he is a registered sex offender and he is doing these kinds of things his behavior may escalate and he may become dangerous. Please do not delay in going to the police. You can go in and ask to speak to someone who regularly handles sex crimes, a detective, rather than a field officer. These folks have heard everything and will not give you a hard time, they will help you.
Go to the police and file a report.
That is how go you about reporting someone.
As for suing that is a CIVIL and not a criminal matter, and you need to address that witha CIVIL and not a criminal lawyer.
What I can say about your proposed lawsuit, however, is that it costs money and time to sue, and, unless you are independently wealthy be sure that the person you sue is collectible before you toss away good money for bad.
I hope that I have been helpful in answering your question.
