Do I have a case for a car sold to me illegally?

I bought a car in 11/2012, without the seller informing me that it had been declared a total loss. I have since put on 100,000 miles. There is a check on the buyer's guide showing that the vehicle had "some damage reported to an insurance company", but nothing stating a total loss.
