Not at all. Most elder law attorneys simply call themselves that in order to describe their main specialty/work. Their work would include issues related to seniors (such as health insurance, estates, conservatorships, etc.), but, God willing, we're all going to be seniors. Thus, seeking advice from an elder law attorney on the issues you present (before you are an elder) is a GREAT idea. Good luck!

No, of course not. "Elder law" attorneys have expertise that is commonly need by seniors, but often helpful to others, particularly in the areas of public benefits and disability planning.

Definitely not! The issues you are raising don't necessarily fall within the ambit of elder law as these issues can affect people of all ages. Since you have questions about medicare, you would want to talk to an attorney that is knowledgeable about medicare.

Most Elder Law attorneys I know serve not only seniors, but also persons with disabilities and individuals who wish to plan for the eventuality of long term care in the future, regardless of age. In fact, since you are wanting help with public benefit issues, an Elder Law attorney may be your best bet.
