Should I just pay the fine and move on, or should I fight the ticket?

If it's a moving violation it will go on your driving record. Some of them carry points and some do not.

If it's a traffic offense that carries points, I recommend appearing in court. Therefore, you can try and strike a deal with the prosecutor to reduce it or plead no contest, which may get you zero points as well. However, if you just pay it online, it is considered a guilty plea, which will be reported to the Department of Driver's Services for a certain number of points, if applicable.

That depends on what you mean by "minor." Some do, some don't, and WHERE you get the citation (city v. state court) may matter as well. But you haven't told us anything about your case yet.

Most traffic violations go on your record. Without knowing what you are charged with it's impossible to say. Go to court, and ask the prosecutor to reduce your charge to a non-reporting violation.
