does magistrate have discretion to not add points if my son pleads "no contest." or is this automatically imposed by BMV? Does BMV also automatically impose restriction relating to reversion to TIPIC status, or can that be eliminated by magistrate with a no contest plea?

The magistrate does not have discretion RE points. The BMV will add the points when they recieve the adjudication. An attorney may be able to negotiate a reduction with the prosecutor.

You should hire a local attorney to assist you with this. You can use the find a lawyer tab above to help locate a local attorney.

The magistrate does not control the BMV. The BMV will impose points etc upon conviction, if he is convicted of a pointed offense and/or requires the imposition of restrictions. An attorney may be able to negotiate a plea to an offense that does not come with points or restrictions.
