If a tenant does not cash a security deposit, does the LL have to give the money to the controller's office?

Does a landlord have to turn over unclaimed money or property to the state controller office? If yes, what time frame do they have to do that and what options do a tenant have if they dont?

Do you mean you received a check from the landlord for a return of your security deposit and never cashed it? Or are you the landlord who has unclaimed funds remaining in an account from an uncashed check?
