Which court is your case in?
Great possibilities. here. You have free choice so do as you like but free consultations are yours for the asking. You have nothing to lose but much to gain. Good luck to you. I hope this helps you?
If you make too much for a PD, then the court has determined that you should be able to afford an attorney. As Mr. Slaten points out, you should at least talk with a few attorneys (most of us offer free consultations) before you make the decision that you cannot afford one. Other than cash up front, some take credit cards or monthly payments.
You would be well served by retaining an attorney if possible.
A first DUI is a minimum of 48 hours of jail time (convertible to work release/community service) and up to 6 months of county jail time. Most counties have their own standard as to what the normal sentence is. Good news is yours is a low BAC, which works toward the imposition of a minimal sentence. Bad news it is a second offense (although the age of the old one minimizes that fact). Bottom line is you should be able to convert any jail time to community service.
The fines and fees for a 1st DUI will run you around $2,500. Then you have the cost of the 3 month DUI school, and depending on your county there could be other costs associated with MADD or morgue attendance as well.
