Thr tenant was late on rent and had violence in the hoeus so i gave notice. They were paid up in rent through the 31st of the month. The tenant moved out on the 21st and now wants the room pro rated for the last ten days. The tenant also did not return the keys. Am I required to pro rate the rent if I am going to change the locks anyway and charge this against their deposit

You do not necessarily have to, but it also depends what it says on the Lease Agreement. Be sure to give an itemized bill within 21 days of the tenant's move-out to show where that deposit is being used.

The attorney above is right Tho it may be worth peace if it's only ten days rent
