Who's accountable for the bills on the property? If it was abandon by one of the owner.

One spouse name is not on the property, the other collected off the money from the property and now has abandon it. Tenants still on the property. Because the property was abandoned, is the spouse who name is not on the property responsible for the bills on the property? How does that work if you get a divorce?

Hi, The key is not only who is on the property but also who is on the mortgage. If one spouse's name is not on the property and is also not on the mortgage if there is no mortgage then that spouse is not liable. Talk to an attorney at once for more information and advice. Good luck to you. Henry Gornbein

I suggest each party get a lawyer. The mortgage on the house may be marital debt even though only one party is on the mortgage. You have not provided nearly enough information to sort out this problem. In fact, I believe you can only get a satisfactory answer by sitting down and talking with a lawyer who will ultimately steer you through the divorce process.

I would need more details. Generally it is possible for a person not to have title but to have liability due to loan documents. See an attorney with the details. There cannot be any reliable advise without them.
