I need an employment rights lawyer

3 views 2 answers
Was hired and after 2 months of working a background check was completed, after an employee goggled me and inter-emailed mugshot to other members and employees. Arrest were explained and they allowed me to continue my employment (non conviction felony) . Four months later the same employee who circulated mugshot became director i was asked out the blue again for my social security number (employee lied saying it was for working with the kids) the following week i was fired. Reason they gave was that due to my background they had to let me go.

It doesn't appear that you have a question to be answered. There is a tab at the top of the page for "Find a Lawyer." I think you should use that tool to find someone in FL that you can hire to help you.

First, I am not sure why an attorney from another state is answering question in Florida employment law section. Second, Florida is a right to work state which means you can be fired for no reason whatsoever; unless it is a protected reason such as race, sex, religion etc. Unfortunately, "arrested" is not a protected reason to not be fired. You should still be eligible for unemployment compensation.
