Are doctors obligated to accept medical insurance for immigration examination for green card?

Business Questions 7 views 5 answers
I've been trying to schedule an appointment to have my medical examination done for my green card application. I have called my insurance (Humana), and was informed they cover it, but the doctors I've called keep telling me the insurance doesn't cover it. Is there anything that can be done, or do I have to just pay for it out of pocket? Thanks!

Unfortunately that is not a question that we have the answer to here. My suggestion would be contacting your insurance company and finding out if any civil surgeons in your area are covered by them. I would also then speak to the civil surgeons they recommend so that you can make sure they will in fact accept your insurance. Good luck!

All you can do is keep calling different doctors on the USCIS Civil Surgeon list. I've heard of a few doctors that bill it as an 'annual physical'.
