Tenant Rights

I rent a room in an owner occupied complex. I've been here two years. I recently found out that the owner is a couple grand behind on property taxes, about $18 grand behind on HOA fees and had a recent mortgage modification loan. Also, a welfare fraud investigator is looking to speak with them. I have paid my rent on time for as long as I have been here. I didn't find out through the landlord, they haven't said anything to me about it, they Dont know I found this information out recently. What will happen to me as a renter ? I knew nothing of this when I moved in. I did notice that rent receipts were not ever voluntarily given, even when asked for. I have begun paying with money orders to keep proof of payment. Its hard to up and move, but how much time if foreclosure?

Foreclosure could take a long time, even more than a year, depending on the circumstances. There is no way of estimating time unless you are following the proceedings through the court docket. However, you should check with local counsel; some California cities have local laws prohibiting foreclosure evictions.
