I recently took a plea for an assault :( it was a bar fight. Prior to this I have no prior criminal history at all. I had gotten a court appointed attorney that clearly didn't have my best interest at heart when telling me I should take this plea. I had no idea how this would effect me being that I have never been in trouble before. Until, I got turned down from an employment agency because of it. :( I reAlly need to know what my options are. I get sentenced this month so I need help asap to act fast! I am a single mother and sole provider for my son. I can't have this happening to me
You need to attempt to withdraw your plea before you are sentenced. After that, it is much harder to do. You need to convince the court that you had a significant misunderstanding about something relevant to the plea.

Use the find lawyer tab above to locate attorneys in your area. You need to get moving on this. It is very difficult to withdraw a plea in general, but becomes nearly impossible after sentencing.
Just also remember that the penalties coul be worse ifyou go to trial. Withdrawing a plea doesn't mean you're no longer guilty. It means the state has toprove your guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and the judge can sentence you pursuant to statute. Please seek advice from an attorney only licensed in MI.
You need to start consulting with experienced criminal lawyers in your area ASAP. He will need to thoroughly review your case to determine if there are grounds to withdraw your plea. It is immensely difficult to withdraw a plea after sentencing as opposed to before.
Consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney in your area who can discuss with you the steps necessary to withdraw a plea. It is not a guarantee that you will be allowed to do so. Good luck to you.
