Can you still get your dental hygiene license after receiving a pbj for a dui that happened 6 years prior?

I have looked this question up and looked thru so many pages to find a law that is clear about this question. I plan to attend hygiene school and i want to make sure i will still be able to obtain my license after finishing school, to be able to sit for the board exams.

I would advise you to contact the board with this question as they would be able to give you complete and accurate advice. It only makes sense to take this approach because that's who will ultimately decide.

Attorney Hammonds has given you excellent advice. Click on "find a lawyer" to speak to a local experienced defense if you do not want to speak to your former attorney.

I doubt you're going to find a law on this question--that's a decision for the board. But I liken this to getting admitted to the bar. You want to be completely honest, disclose everything, and spin it in a positive light (I learned a lot in the process, etc.). If you lie, you're toast.

Your question is more about licensing than criminal defense. Accordingly, I will try to move it to a more appropriate forum.

What state are you located in? Please look at my blog about this matter. http://www.empowerednurses.org/skeletons-in-your-closet/ Although this one is about nurses, it pertains to all licenses. Can you get your DUI expunged?

There is no automatic disqualification for obtaining a license even if you had been convicted of a crime. There is a "good moral character" requirement, and I doubt a DUI will create any sort of problem. They will also be concerned about addictions and alcoholism, so you may be asked about this in light of the DUI. But a single DUI is not alcoholism. Just be honest about the charge. You'll be fine.
