Single car accident, left scene
Anonymous4 views8 answers
I was driving home late the other night and fell asleep at the wheel. Next thing I know, I flipped and totaled my car but nobody else was involved besides myself. I was scared so I had a friend pick me up and take me home. What could happen with this situation?

If the authorities are not looking for you, then nothing will likely happen. Contact your insurance company. Have the vehicle towed to a repair shop. If you caused any property damage, you will be responsible for that; your insurer will pay for such damages up to the limits of your insurance policy. Good luck!
I am glad that nobody (including yourself) was too badly injured. You may want to contact your insurance carrier, letting them know that your car is trashed. Other than that, if there was no damage done to any city/ state/ federal property, then you may be clear. Once again, not sure who you prayed to before the accident, but I would keep doing it. Best of luck finding a new car.
Report the incident to your carrier, and request that they assist, unless you do not have coverage.
Further, you should take care of your vehicle as soon as possible. You could incur costs, or face potential liability, by abandoning your vehicle.

Sorry for you accident. Sounds scary. With a car flip it's a miracle you weren't injured. Depending on any witnesses, you may or may not be contacted by the police department. If so, I would consult with a criminal attorney just in case before making any statements. Assuming your car was insured, you'll want to contact your carrier and file a claim for the property damage.
The best thing is to do is let your Insurance company know of the incident, and hopefully you have enough coverage to cover your vehicle and if any property damaged that may have happened. You also may not want to make any further statement regarding this incident, unless you have a criminal law attorney working for you.

How best to handle this situation will vary from state to state. I would contact a local criminal defense attorney to review and advise on what if any steps should be taken.
Good luck.
