I recently applied for an assistant store management position at a large corporation. Basically speaking within this stores location I would be number 3 in the line of command; behind the other assistant manager. I was called for an interview, and then sent on for a second interview with the GM. A few days later the GM called and said I never asked you, but are you avail for this certain shift, I said yes and she said ok come in for company orientation the following day. I was told at training I had to know how to perform every job duty in case it was needed as myself, the other asst manager or the gm would have to step in. They ended up leaving me in "training" and I was put on working a reg employee position while another employee overtook the duties of asst manager.

Unfortunately, more information is needed to determine whether a violation of law occurred. Missouri is an at-will employment state. That means your employment can be terminated at any time for any legitimate, non-discriminatory reason. In the same vein, adverse changes to your employment can occur for any legitimate, non-discriminatory reason. You will need to contact an attorney specializing in employment law and provide him/her with additional information to determine whether your situation presents an issue involving state or federal employment law.
