Got my first ticket by rolling at a stop sign and have a court date, how do I get it off my record? (no past tickets)

I am 20 years old with no previous tickets. I got my first ticket by rolling at a stop sign and have a court date. I am from Virginia. Can I take an online driving course to get it off my record? At the court date, do I plead guilty and ask how/what I can do to not have it go on record? What is the chance it does not go on my record?
I suggest talking to a ticket attorney in your area (find one using the "Find a Lawyer" tool. They will be able to advise you on this and you can ask them about a pre-trial diversion program or defensive driving program that can get the ticket off your record. Best Wishes!
Some jurisdictions do accept traffic school as a way to get the charge dismissed. In jurisdictions that do not accept traffic school as a diversion I often advice my clients to do it anyway. You should talk to a traffic defense attorney in your jurisdiction that knows the local procedures and can better assist you or at least give you some more direct advice based on that jurisdiction.

You definitely need to talk with an attorney who practices in the Williamsburg area. Many of us offer free consultations which I recommend you take advantage of.
Where I practice, in Southwest Virginia, the courts usually require that an individual attend an 8-hour, in-the-classroom course, to satisfy the requirements of a dismissal or a reduction of a charge. Some of our courts may view an online course as insufficient to allow a charge to be disposed of with a reduction or an amendment, or a deferment status. Be cautious of spending money on an online course that a court may not accept. You should contact the general district court in the county in which you are charged, or an experienced attorney in that county who is familiar with the requirements of that court's driver improvement program.
If you plead guilty, it will be on your record. It would be be best to contact an attorney who practices in your area before court to find out the best way to prepare. That attorney should be able to advise you as to whether an online course or some other measure is the best action to try to get your ticket dismissed.
