Possibly, but not automatically. Most lawyers who draft wills ask their clients specifically about real property and personal property, and add clauses that address both. Examine the will's provisions to see if there is a separate clause about personal property. There is also something called a "residuary clause," which governs disposition of the "residue" of a decedent's estate. The residue, as the name implies, is typically whatever remains once the largest assets have been disposed of, and debts against the estate have been satisfied. So the answer to your question is that a person is not entitled to contents inside a house, automatically, just because that person was willed the house. Once you have had a chance to review the will's contents, speak with a licensed West Virginia wills lawyer if you have further questions.

Hello, Leaving the house - real property - differs from the contents -- personal property. The WIll should designate who gets the personal property. Consult with the executor.

The wife likely has some ownership interest in the contents of this home, which she has been living in for 21 years. If so, then she will be able to retain that property. If the contents in question were solely the property of the husband, then their disposition (i.e. where they all go) will depend on the terms of the will. If the will mentions only the house and not its contents, there is a good argument that the bequest does not include the contents. The wife may want to bring a copy of the will to an attorney to have it reviewed and explained to her. Best of luck!
