Is there help for people taken advantage of by a used car sales man?

I have been sold a used car from a used dealership that has now been in the shop for a month (this time) with a ever growing list of issues. I was promised this was a good reliable car. I have now lost my job and many interviews due to the fact that I have barely had use of my new car. The salesman dodges my calls and never calls back and refuses to give more than a few days on my next payment. The car broke down 3 days after I made my first payment. I am now on the verge of losing my new apartment. I got this car out of pure need for a car that would be reliable for me to work and get my apartment. Salesman knew this. Knew I was desperate. I truly feel like I have been used. He is going to take the car back and I lose the car, the apartment, and $2360. Please tell me there is help.

Used car sales are As Is Final unless you obtained a written warranty to the contrary. Lemon law applies only to new car sales.

I agree with Mr. Brinkmeier's response to your post. You may want to consult with an attorney to review your documents involved in the purchase of the vehicle and give you legal advice. Good luck!

Most people buy used cars 'as is'. This gives the seller a defense. However the 'as is' defense doesn't apply in cases of fraud and intentional deception. You may have a claim under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Yet it's going to be hard for you to prove.
