Do I need an attorney to get money left for my sister and I?
Anonymous2 views2 answers
My grandmother who passed away in 2004 put my father, uncle, my sister and myself as her beneficiary on her Insurance. Well at the time of her death me and my sister was not of age which is 18 if I'm correct. My dad and uncle received their part of the funds now here it is 11 years later and neither my sister or I have received or heard anything. Yes we are of age now I'm 28 and my sister is 26. I donr a little digging not to long ago on the Kentucky unclaimed property and funds website and I Pulled up her name in which two insurance claims From American General are just sitting and waiting. When I tried to call to see of I could get them or any info. They said only the executor could claim but I have no Ideal of who it is. Is there anything else I can do or can I get an attorney to help?

Hi, Since your own inquiries have not resulted in much, it sounds like you will need an attorney to help you determine who the executor of the estate was and how to obtain what was left to you. Look for a Trusts and Estates attorney, or even one dealing with wills in your local area as they should be able to assist you with making sense of your options. You may be able to find one here on as well.
See .Com under 'Find-A-Lawyer'. Then enter 'Probate' or else 'Estate Planning' and the State in which the deceased was living. You'll find a number of qualified attorneys to choose from. Then get a free consultation and choose one. Good Luck to you.
