You should be able to get it back no problem. Have you just gone to the DMV (set an appointment) and ask them yourself what you need to show them. You may not need an attorney to help you on this.

As is his custom Mr. Hill's answer is spot on. I know of no situation where there is a lifetime ban for DU convictions here in the United States. I am not an AK attorney but as long as you have paid the fines and completed any mandatory drinking driving program than you should be able to get a license with proof of current insurance. Go to DMV and make an application for the license. Good luck to you. I hope this helps you?

First thing to do is contact the AK licensing agency and see what your status is and what obligations you have left to fulfill. If you don't understand anything or are unable to complete any requirements on your own then you should consult with an attorney. Good luck.

Unfortunately, the DUI circumstances in AK appear to be very different from our sister states. The sentence for an individual convicted of a class C felony DUI MUST include a permanent revocation of driving privileges. The privilege to obtain a driver's license is subject to restoration after 10 years IF that person has not been convicted of a criminal offense since the license was revoked and the person provides proof of financial responsibility. AS 28.35.030. So, if my advice is do not commit any crime, wait the mandatory 10 year period, then attempt to get your license. If you run into difficulties, consult an attorney. One caveat - this assumes you are correct in that your convictions falls under AS 28.35.030(n) it might be worth just consulting with a criminal attorney to make sure that understanding is correct.
