Can I get any money from my deceased husband?

My Mamaw is going to be 58 this June and her husband just passed away in February. He was disabled and got a check for about $1000 every month. They were married for around 20yrs and they have one kid together. She is also raising me and my brother (her grandkids) on her own. Is there anyway she can get a check or some type of help?

I'm not sure there is enough information here for a good answer. If the disability was through Social Security, then it is very likely. If not her survivors benfits would have several other factors. The easiest way to find out is to talk to Social Security. If he had benefits as a Veteran or some other type of disability there are often payouts for surviving spouses and some dependents. Just find the people paying and call to figure out what types of benefits are available. Once you get a handle on those issues you would have enough information for someone to review what your rights are.
