What are my chances for suing a college or university or department for harassment?

About 2 months ago, I found that someone scratched a penis in my door. I immediately told someone in housing and as of now they've done nothing. I told my RA, had counseling, my grades have dropped and I sit in class crying (looking weird) dealing with this situation. I printed out some pictures to cover it up, but the situation has taken a physical tole on me, Other incidents have happened with the housing staff making damaging comments about me that I don't have the internal strength to even repeat. I've done some bad things i my life, but I don't think I deserve this. The university claims to be a "Safe Zone" for students like me, but their actions prove hypocritical. Besides, I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

I suggest you speak with the on-campus Student Attorney, Dean of Students, Housing Supervisor, or Ombudsman. However, I would not be so upset about this- sounds like a stupid insensitive student (male) prank.

I suggest you see a counselor as well as someone in the dean of students office. I really do not see a lawsuit based on these facts

Because the damages are probably so low, even if you have a claim, an attorney would probably only take the case if you can and will pay him/her on an hourly basis. Also, if the university is a state supported university, immunity comes into play which would make it even more difficult to recover any damages.
