I need legal representation for a transfer of venue my Chapter 13 from Columbus, OH to Phoenix, AZ

I am in year 4 of a 5 year plan. I have a change in income and need to file an adjustment. My judge wants me to appear in person in Columbus. The travel costs are prohibitive. My lawyer in Columbus is suggesting I transfer venue to Phoenix for my final year.

I agree with Attorney Mortensen. I have Chapter 13 clients that live in different states, too, and it is not uncommon for them to appear by telephone for hearings if their appearance is even necessary. A simple call to the judge or motion should be all that is required for you to appear by telephone, at least that is the case for cases in Arizona.

The rules of this forum forbid us from responding to this kind of solicitation. I suggest you use the attorney finder tool at the top of this page to find a local attorney and make an appointment to see if there is somebody who can help you. Ask your attorney to contact the court clerk to see if you can appear by telephone. Bankruptcy judges are pretty practical people. I know in AZ we always have out of town attorneys appear telephonic.
