Do I need to sue my previous employer for discrimination?

I am pregnant and I was the only female in my position at the company. I feel that I was let go with no reason other than that I am pregnant, than immediately after a guy came and was offered my position. I am not the only one who feels this way about my position. What should I do?

In Louisiana, it will help if you have corroborating evidence. Such as witnesses who heard manager was firing you due to your pregnancy.

When you're fired while pregnant, there's certainly a good chance that you could prove you were fired because you were pregnant. You need to give the facts a full vetting with qualified plaintiffs' employment counsel.

Generally, you may fall within the protections of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission recently updated its guidance regarding the protections for pregnant employees. It is also possible that you have been terminated because of your gender. You may wish to consider contacting the EEOC to schedule an intake (www.eeoc.gov) or contact an employment attorney who can go over your specific facts and guide you through the administrative process.
