Can a manager require you stay past your shift if your transportation requires you to leave at a specific time

I work for whataburger, and my managers try to get me to stay past my shift to do work that the next shift should be doing. I find myself being put into a position where I have to do other peoples duties. I get payed minimum wage, and I find myself doing at least 3 times the work that other people making the same or more than me do. I don't feel it's fare, but I know fare doesn't mean diddly when it comes to legal matters. Please advise me about laws pertaining to this situation.

Sorry about your situation. I know you are not a lawyer, but you are pretty spot on when you say "fair doesn't mean diddley when it comes to legal matters". Unfortunately, the only conceivable law that could be invoked in your scenario are the federal and state wage and hour laws regarding overtime and minimum wages. Bottom line: if your employer is properly paying you at least minimum wage for all hours worked and overtime at 1.5 times your rate for hours worked in excess of 40, there is no legal recourse arising out of the performance of duties beyond what was initially agreed to between you and your employer. I wish I had a better answer. Best of luck. Jason Gunter
