I fell behind in paying my storage, but when i phoned to ask for the total, i was shocked to learn that it nearly doubled what i owe originally. I know that they cannot assess over 15% of my rental dues per month, which is 240. I could have paid them 552 total, but my bill is 855, and they said its scheduled for auction on monday, 5/3. I checked CA sec. Of state and county recorders office to see if a UCC or a mechanical lien was filed under my name, nor can i fibd any publications showing an auction of my belongings. How can i prevent them from auctioning my property or how can i regain access so i can get some of my things that i can sell to pay them? Please help.

Pay them first, sell stuff later. Wish I could offer more help. If you know the stuff has value, sell it sight unseen to a friend and go get it!

Sorry to hear about our situation. I suspect there is nothing to be done given the time constraints and your budget. You would need to get a TRO done today to postpone Sunday's auction. And I suspect you do not have the funds to pay for the attorney and courts costs to get a TRO done ASAP. Then aside from that financial reality, the legal reality is it is unclear whether the facts would support a TRO or not. Hopefully another attorney responding to your question might have more constructive suggestions for you.
