What is an sis

I got pulled over June 2012 and charged with a DWI got my license suspended for 90 days with 2 years SIS probation. But I completed everything they asked me to complete SATOP etc. got removed off probation and got my license back and was done with the whole thing well I'm currently in truck driving school to obtain my CDL. Well all employers that I am talking to is saying they can't hire me because this is on my report. It's not on my driving record as a DWI its on there as an administrative alcohol suspension. What I thought was with an sis this would go away after completing it successfully. I'm a bit confused can anyone help? Not sure what to do.

SIS stands for Suspended Imposition of Sentence and it means that once you completed probation, the Court records on the Criminal Proceedings are a "closed" record. (WARNING- the SIS counts as a prior should you get another DWI - you would be a second time DWI Defendant.) HOWEVER, While there is no conviction and the criminal proceedings against you are now a closed record, the fact that you had a 90 day suspension on your license for blowing over .08 remains on your driving record and will always remain on the driving record (except that after 10 years if its your only dwi you can expunge it) The suspension of your driver's license is not considered part of the "Criminal Disposition" of the case, so while you are conviction free, the fact that you had the "Administrative" license suspension is obvious to anyone who wants to employ you in connection to using a CDL.

SIS is suspended imposition of sentence. It not a "conviction" on your base license. But SIS, pleas of guilty or no contest, and administrative suspensions are all treated as convictions by the Department of Transportation. But after this much time you should be able to get a CDL, assuming it was your only alcohol related enforcement contact. Call the Department of Revenue at 573 751 4833 and ask them if you qualify to test for a CDL. Some trucking companies dont hire people with a DWI history because of the insurance costs.

Suspended imposition of sentence. You plead guilty but did not get "convicted". It has nothing to do with your driver's license.

An SIS is a Suspended Imposition of Sentence. Unfortunately, a lot of lawyers tell their clients that a plea with an SIS results in a "clean record." This is simply not true. The PLEA of guilty will always be there unless you petition the court to expunge your record after 10 years. Importantly, it seems like your employer probably saw the administrative alcohol suspension. Keep in mind that the administrative issue is totally separate from the criminal case where you received an SIS. The alcohol suspension on your driving record is there because you blew over a .08. The only way to have it removed entirely is to have the arrest expunged, but again you have to wait 10 years.
