Can DHS deny my children and I food stamps because of my boyfriends income?

I have a boyfriend. I am a mom of two and I own a house. I see him regularly. He has his own place but spends most of his time with me. He doesn't have this as a legal address and still pays bills on his own room with a friend and a storage unit for his guy stuff (motorcycle, tools, stereo and furnishings etc.). I have to admit I feel safer when he is here but he doesn't give me his check. We don't have that kind of relationship. He helps me with guy stuff and I feel protected. He fixes my car and cuts the grass and does the snow. I get no child support. I have income from my small company and I get $250.00 for food stamps. I have been denied food stamps and I am afraid they will take my health insurance. Can they claim his income? They say I have too many assets?

I would recommend that you speak with your DHS caseworker. DHS uses your household income in most situations, and if your caseworker believes that your boyfriend lives with you, this could impact your aid. Start by talking to your caseworker.
