Would it be possible to sue the online gaming site Runescape for stealing almost 9 years of my life?

I just found out that my Runescape account has been banned for using software to cheat on the game. The problem is I never did this and my account was hacked even though I was using their security features. I have had an account for almost 9 years and have been a paying member for 4-5 years. There is no way to contact them about this problem. Now that I can't use my account anymore I have basically lost 9 years of my life to them. Is there anything I can do about this?

It appears that their argument will be that you lost 9 years of your life long before they banned you from your account. You can sue anyone for anything. The key is winning the suit. Otherwise you will be wasting additional time in your life. And you may end up paying their lawyers for being a nuisance, let alone the money you will be spending on your attorneys.

If your account was truly hacked and you did not violate their terms and conditions, maybe you can state a claim against them for wrongly canceling the account, but I can't say how strong the claim would be without knowing all the facts and seeing their terms and conditions. Furthermore, I am not sure if your damages would be very substantial. A suit may cost you more than you would get out of it. However, maybe a lawyer could send a demand letter for you, and that would not be as costly as litigation. As far as them ruining your life, that would be a really tough and a risky case to bring. As counsel said, you can sue anyone for anything, but that does not mean you will win, nor does it mean you will not be ordered to pay the other side's fees and costs for losing or filing a frivolous suit. Many cases are filed, but many are dismissed. I've read in the news about gamers suing for not being warned that the game was "addicting," but those instances seemed extreme, where players had serious health issues or were hospitalized as a result of not being able to stop playing. Also, I don't know the outcome of those cases. And you can't always trust news articles when it comes to legal cases. Anyway, I hope you are able to reclaim your life. Consider new hobbies, volunteer work, or maybe college or grad school. Good luck.
