3 views 4 answers
I have never been in trouble, i just turned 18, 3 months ago and I have been low on money and i wasnt using my head and stole $20 worth of stuff from walmart. They took my info and social but i never had to sign anything and the police were never called. They say i will most likely be charged a fine. But i dont know how much it will be. Will i be looking at court? Or high fines?

you need to do your best to hire a lawyer. Theft is a crime of moral turpitude that could have negative consequences for the rest of your life. Talk to your parents.

I suggest hiring a lawyer. You may receive a criminal summons in the mail and/or a civil demand letter from a law office demanding money for damages. A lawyer can greatly help.

You should hire an attorney. You may get one or both of the following things. (1) a summons to answer a criminal charge of theft in court. You are an adult now. This is serious. You will need an attorney. Do not ignore a summons. (2) a civil demand letter. This is a letter from a lawyer for the store. It will sounds very official and make it seem like you owe them money. This you should ignore.

You should contact a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible. A criminal charge may still be filed in this case, and it is in your best interest to have a criminal defense attorney at all stages to negotiate with the prosecutor. In addition, if you get a settlement demand letter, you should consult with an attorney before paying any money to the store.
